EVOCATION: Ephemera, Bygones, Redundancies

JUNE 23-JULY 21, 2023
Maude Kerns Art Center

I came to Eugene in 2017.

Since then I’ve seen: A flood. Wildfires. Birth. Death. Six beautiful Springs. One big snow. Pandemic. Insurrection. Injustice. War. Beauty. I’ve seen Joys and Sorrows. At least 10,000 of each.

Some years my work is based on my experience of being in the landscape. Its post-volcanic profusion. Water. Rock. Fire.

This work has a different common thread. Here’s a narrative telling, a map of time as often as a map of place. Ephemera. Feelings. Thoughts. Memory. Accretion and  assimilation. Looking back and through. While making these paintings, events, things, people, and places that affect me make their place on the panels and papers.

This is the work that wants to be done.
